Fri 3-5 Coding

Fridays are for coding clubs! In this student driven club our knowledgeable instructors inspire coders to design and create their own unique games and animations. Kids provide the ideas and we provide the support and background knowledge for our self-driven coders to create in three different coding languages. Beginner to intermediate programmers use MIT’s Scratch 3.0 language to learn logic and mathematical concepts such as Cartesian (x,y) coordinates, variables, and iterative processes. Students ready for something a bit more challenging explore the coding of phone apps using a web-based program that introduces kids to graphical user interface design (GUI), placement of buttons and text, and strategic use of multiple screens. Kids with advanced skills code in the text-based programming language

known as Python and tackle techniques such as lists, if statements and loops

while refining their problem solving and logical reasoning skills.
